CLINTON — On August 12, American Legion Post #103, in Clinton, initiated what is hoped to be an annual event in support of veterans.
The “2.2 Mile Walk/Run With The Vets” was held to bring awareness of the 22 veterans a day who commit suicide and, hopefully, let families and other veterans know there is support and help available.
The first event crowd was small, but the enthusiasm was high and all enjoyed the event (especially the breakfast afterward).
Although no runners participated in the inaugural event, there was a World War II veteran in the ranks along with other veterans and participants. The founders of the event are already looking forward to next year and a larger turnout.
