CLINTON — An open house/card shower will be held to honor Tom Bray on Sunday, September 8, from 2-4 p.m. at the Vespasian Warner Public Library, in Clinton.
Cards may be sent to him at #50 Somerset Drive, Clinton.
Thomas B. Bray of Clinton, will turn 90 years old on September 9. He was born on September 9, 1929, in Edwards County, Ill. He married Thora E. Burger on December 25, 1949, at Prairie Center Church, Clinton.
Surviving siblings include Wanda (Roger) Mix, Helen Wilson, and Dennis (Carol) Bray, all of Clinton; and Norma (Ron) Brown of Bloomington.
Tom and Thora are parents of Bob (Martha) Bray of Wapella, and Bill, deceased. Daughter-in-law, Karen, resides in Colorado. He has two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Tom began his life-long career as a trucker and farmer in DeWitt and McLean counties. He farmed potato fields in Florida and Colorado. He owned and operated a fertilizer plant in Wapella, and co-owned a major hybrid seed company before retiring.
He remains hands-on with farming interests, but spends much of his time with his computer. He enjoys keeping social contact with beach buddies since he and his wife spent 37 years wintering in Fort Myers Beach, Fla.
He is a member of the United Methodist Church and Kiwanis Club, both in Clinton.
