CLINTON - The Lincoln Heritage Committee of DeWitt County announced this week that Clinton will participate in the National Park Service Passport Program. The C. H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum will house the stamp.
Clinton will be one of a number of communities in the Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area to offer a stamp. The Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area was designated by Congress to preserve and tell the story of Abraham Lincoln’s life and times. The program allows visitors to collect cancellation stamps at specific sites in participating Looking for Lincoln communities, all while learning more about the 16th President of the United States.
NPS Passport books will be sold at the C. H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum. Visitors can record their visits to NPS sites by stamping their passport with a rubber cancellation stamp. The cancellations, similar to those received in an international passport, record the name of the passport community and the date it was visited.
Passport stamps are free to collect at each location. For more information, call Lincoln Heritage Committee of DeWitt County, a program of the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau at (217) 935-3364, or the C.H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum at (217) 935-6066.
