CLINTON — David Remmert, director of the DeWitt/Piatt Bi-County Health Department recently gave county board officials a survey of the efforts underway to administer the COVID-19 vaccine locally. Since Remmert last briefed the county, first-round vaccinations have been administered.
“And, those are going on currently at Clinton High School,” Remmert said. “We have provided vaccinations through special clinics on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.”
Remmert said his department had clinics planned “for as long as it takes” on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the high school.
The 1B priority group has been the first so far to receive the vaccinations. That group includes residents 65 and older and essential workers.
“And that was recently expanded to include those younger than age 65 who suffer from various health conditions,” he said. “So, we are expanding that very soon.”
