Hospital reports good start to fiscal year

Posted

CLINTON — Warner Hospital & Health Services CEO Paul Skowron reported Monday the hospital finished May with a profit of about $140,000.

“It’s about $100,000 over the budgeted amount,” Skowron told city council members.  “We’re starting out the new fiscal year with a lot of activity.”

Work on the hospital’s parking lot has been delayed because the contractor had a heart attack, Skowron said.

“But, he’s going to be back in action in about two weeks, and he’s going to get started.”

Skowron also reported the Warner Hospital Foundation was covering about $18,000 for the purchase of new exercise equipment for the physical therapy department, which is undergoing a renovation.

The council reappointed two members of the hospital board.  Nate Ennis and Julie North each were reappointed to terms ending July 1, 2023.

In other business, commissioner Nan Crang reported that this week was brush pick up week.

“There seems to be more brush this time around,” she said.

Commissioner John Wise reported the water department contracted with FS for lime removal at the water plant.

“We’re going to start on that at the end of the week, possibly,” Wise said.

He also reported that filter media for the plant is on order and will be replaced as soon as the supplies arrive.

Commissioner Tom Edmunds reported the city was behind overall year-to-date on local sales tax by about $2,300.  The city is ahead $412 on two of the types of sales tax.
