Lady Maroons teams split with Lady Vikings

Posted

LINTON — Tuesday, March 21, saw the Lady Maroons back on the home diamond to play ball against the Tri-Valley Lady Vikings.  This would be another early spring cold day for softball.

The teams looked well matched early in the game with each team scoring once in the first inning and then nothing until the third.

Then, the Lady Vikings began to edge their way into a lead and extend it.  Tri-Valley scored once in the third, and again in the fourth for a 3-1 lead.  Both teams were scoreless in the 4th and 5th innings, but Tri-Valley wasn’t done.

The Lady Vikings sealed the win with two more runs in the 7th inning to “Ice” the game 5-1.  The Lady Maroons are now 1-2 on the season.

The Lady Maroon junior varsity followed the first game.  The Lady Maroons’ offense was hitting on all cylinders, while the defense “was on a roll” also.

The game was shortened due to the cold and the length of the games the night before.  The home team scored 3 runs in the first, followed by 3 in the second to secure the game.

In the 3rd and final inning, the Lady Vikings were able to push home a run after two outs, and then they bowed out with another strike out.

The Lady Maroons won 6-1. The JV Lady Maroons are now 1-2 like the varsity, and both teams play at home again Friday evening, March 24 and Saturday morning, March 25.
