CLINTON — The Lady Maroons were at home on Tuesday, while the boys were in Tuscola for the CIC tournament.  

The ladies were going into battle against the Mt. Zion Lady Braves.  After gaining three wins in a row, the Lady Maroons were hoping for another win to pull closer to a .500 season.  However, first on the agenda was the junior varsity (JV) game.  

At the tip-off, the Lady Braves took control of the ball but not of the game.  The Lady Maroons actually scored first with two 3-point shots on their first two possessions.  The Lady Braves found their composure and tied the game before the Lady Maroons got serious.  

The home team had a hiccup in the third quarter with some real knock-down-drag-out style play that allowed the Lady Braves to within 4 points.  But, then the Lady Maroons lit up the scoreboard in the fourth quarter with a 17-0 run that sent the Lady Braves down to defeat.  

Clinton won this game 35-14.

The varsity home outing was a totally different game.  The Lady Maroons ran their playbook, but no points appeared.  

At the end of the first quarter the Lady Braves led 20-3.  

The home team began to show some control and better shot selection in the middle quarters to stay in fairly close range, although they were down by 18 at the end of the third quarter.  

The Lady Maroons clawed their way back into the game falling just 7 points short at the final buzzer.  

The home team lost a tough heart breaker 39-32.
