CLINTON — The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Daniel Sargis as the new resident inspector at the Clinton nuclear power plant, located in Clinton, Ill, 23 miles southeast of Bloomington. Clinton is operated by Exelon Generation Co., LLC.
Sargis joined the NRC in 2015 as part of the Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program in Region III. He has supported several sites by assisting the resident inspectors and has completed a rotational assignment at the Braidwood nuclear plant. Prior to joining the agency, he served six years in the U.S. Navy, four of which he served on the USS Wyoming as a nuclear machinist’s mate. He holds a bachelor’s degree in nuclear energy engineering technology from Thomas Edison State University.
Each commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. Sargis joins NRC senior resident inspector Elba Sanchez Santiago at the Clinton facility.
