CLINTON — The Incredibles movie characters are joining the American Library Association and libraries nationwide to encourage the public to obtain a free library card as a part of Library Card Sign-up Month this September. The Vespasian Warner Public Library District is adding to the festivities with a brand new contest.
An evil villain has stolen all of the library cards and the Vespasian Warner Public Library District is in need of superheroes to save the day! The mission is to visit the library to search for the missing cards from September 4-28. Each card that is retrieved is good for one entry into a prize drawing to be held at the end of the month. One superhero will be randomly selected to win a Family Pleaser meal from Monical’s Pizza and there may be other surprises along the way! A superhero-sized thank you goes out to Monical’s Pizza of Clinton for donating this prize. Please visit the library for a complete set of contest rules.
Providing free access to educational programs, educational programs, books, movies, digital content, and other resources, a library card is one of the most cost-effective back-to-school supplies available. Library Card Sign-up Month is a time to highlight the supportive role libraries and librarians play in transforming lives and communities through education. Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to utilize libraries as a source of lifelong learning.
The Incredibles will use their superpowers to remind families, students, and people of all ages that signing up for a library card is a great step toward a truly super lifestyle. Start your journey today at the Vespasian Warner Public Library District. For more information, please contact the library at (217) 935-5174.
