CLINTON — Commissioner John Wise reported that some of the equipment to upgrade the city’s water plant automation system had arrived. He expected the computer and software that run the system to arrive by late April or early May.
“Everything should get back to being automated and running the way it ought to be,” Wise said.
Wise began in February bringing the council up-to-date on the condition of the water plant’s 14-year-old computer system. The system controls the automated functions at the plant.
During the period that the old system was not operating, plant workers had to conduct functions of the plant manually, which was far less efficient overall, Wise said. A firm with an office based in Champaign has been working to completely update the water plant computer system.
Wise also said water plant staff was working to clear some of the filter media.
“It wasn’t wanting to function the way it was supposed to,” he said.
Engineers are working on a couple of options to solve that problem, Wise said.
Water plant staff changes the filter media on an annual basis, which they were about to do anyway, Wise added.
Commissioner Nan Crang reminded residents that vouchers to use the citywide clean-up program were available. Residents may begin using the vouchers on May 1 and will be valid through the end of May.
Vouchers are available at the city hall.
The council also approved the following:
• Fiscal year 2018 budget
• Ordinance authorizing a line of credit for Warner Hospital & Health Services
• Intergovernmental agreement with DeWitt County for the county’s mapping system at $19,242.50
• Façade agreement with Joe Sartie, 112 Warner Ct., for $19,705 (City’s portion)
