Agency responds to complaint about local restaurant

CLINTON — The DeWitt/Piatt Bi-County Health Department has taken corrective action after a complaint was filed with the agency against Clinton Hardee’s restaurant.

The agency’s Environmental Health staff conducted a site visit to Hardee’s after receiving complaints about sanitary conditions at the business on September 9, Public Health Administrator Michael Schroeder told the Clinton Journal.

The complaint was shared among social media users.

“Staff at the restaurant were required to wash, rinse and sanitize all food contact pans at the facility, while under our direct supervision, to better ensure the safety of food and patrons,” Schroeder said.

The restaurant staff also were required to validate proper sanitation steps.

The manager on duty at the time of the health department visit said the specific container that was part of the complaint was dealt with according to a plan of action, Schroeder said.

“An in-service education was provided to all management staff that detailed hygienic practices as well as standard operating procedures for employee injury, while on shift,” Schroeder said.

The health department contacted the corporate office of the Clinton Hardee’s location.  Schroeder said, in a return call, “the representative at the time stated the situation would be handled in an expeditious manner.”

Schoeder said he was awaiting any updates.
