CLINTON — The Clinton Junior High School baseball and softball teams hit the diamonds on Saturday, September 7, for a morning of activity.
The baseball team was playing against the Shelbyville Rams, while the softball team took on the Sullivan Lady Redskins.
The Maroons’ baseball team took control of the game early, taking an early 2-0 lead. However, the Rams saw fit to jump into the fray about halfway through the morning, tying the game at 2-2.
Then, in the final inning, the opposition took a one-run lead, and although they had several players in position to tie or win, the Maroons fell short in a 3-2 loss.
The Lady Maroons, on the other hand, were having a great day taking the early lead in the first. Sullivan fired back in the top of the second inning with two runs to tie the game, but the home team was not done.
The Lady Maroons reestablished the lead with 7 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning and never looked back adding 3 more runs in the fifth inning to win on the 10-run rule, 12-2. Both teams will end their regular seasons and enter regionals this week.
