Clinton native signs to ‘Big Blue’ cross country, track & field

NORMAL — Dane Alexander, the son of Joe Alexander, of Clinton, and Carrie Alexander, of Normal, and the grandson of Carlone Alexander, of Clinton, a 2019 graduate of Normal University High School (Normal U-High), recently signed a letter-of-intent to join Millikin University and compete in cross country and track and field for the “Big Blue.”
Millikin University in Decatur, was founded in 1901 and numbers around 2,000 undergraduate students. The NCAA Division III school is in the Central Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
While at Normal U-High, Alexander was a four-time state qualifier for the Pioneer’s cross country team, which included 3rd (2017) and 2nd (2018) place team trophies.
In track and field, he was a two-time state qualifier and part of the state 2nd place team title in 2018.
Dane was coached by Lester Hampton. He attended elementary and junior high here in Clinton.
