CLINTON — Dearl Allen Thomas, 82, of Clinton, passed away at 3:03 a.m. on December 14, 2023, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton.  A private family burial will be conducted on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton.

Memorials may be directed to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or Cancer Care Specialists, Decatur,.

Dearl was born on June 20, 1941, in Bright Star, Ark., the son of Bernice and Clara (Harvin) Thomas. He married Mary Jane Gettel on August 15, 1980 in Clinton.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Thomas, Clinton; children:  Mark Thomas, Atlanta, Texas; Matthew and Tracy Thomas, LaPorte, Texas; Angie Stauffer, Clinton; and Ted Blanchard, Clinton; nine grandchildren,  Jonathon Thomas, Michael and Alex Owen, Cain, Dylan, Max, and Jonah Stauffer, Zachary Thomas and Andrew Thomas, and two great-grandchildren, Daylen Meade and Raiden Stauffer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, and daughter, Cathy Thomas.

Dearl was a U.S. Army veteran.  He was a retired Pipefitter from Local 211, Houston, Texas and worked formerly at the Clinton Power Station.  Dearl was a member of the Eagles Lodge and a chili cook off champion.
