Maroons over Hawks 9-5

MACON — The Maroons traveled to Macon on April 16 to make up a game with the Meridian Hawks postponed the day before.  

Clinton scored first in the top of the opening inning only to have the Hawks come back with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning.  The Hawks then scored another run in the third inning before the Maroons began to warm up.  

Clinton then lit up the scoreboard starting in the fourth inning, scoring 4 runs; then adding two in the fifth and one in the sixth to out-distance the Hawks.  

The Maroons won 9-5 and are now 5-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play.  

For Clinton; Logan Petersen was 3-3 with 2 doubles, Braden Cross was 2-4 with two doubles, Rustin Wertz was 3-4 with a double and 4 RBI’s (runs batted in), Drew Stacy was 2-4 with a double, and Michael Oswald was 2-3.  Parker West (2-3) pitched three innings and got the win for the Maroons, while Garrett Wayne came in and pitched four no-hit innings in relief and got the save.
