CLINTON — Football; it’s back.
It’s a new year and a new season. Clinton High School has a new head coach, and the future is promising for Maroon football.
Coach Ron Bass doesn’t promise a winning season to start, but said he was confident the football program at Clinton High School (CHS) will turn around into a force to be reckoned with. And, new, “flying C” helmets will help mark the change.
It may be a tough go at first with new plays and a change in offensive and defensive strategies, but the coach has expressed his optimism.
This season, the hometown fans will have a better chance to see the team at home under the “Friday night lights.” Last year saw only two home games in a shortened season. This year, fans can watch five of the nine games on CHS home turf.
The games will kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday nights and begin on August 27.
The team is already practicing. The first game is away at Lincoln and the final game will be at home against Sullivan/Okaw Valley.
