CLINTON — The Clinton High School (CHS) cross country (x-country) team performed well in the recent Central Illinois Conference (CIC) Tournament.
The girls’ team took second place in the team standings and the boys’ team finished in fourth place overall.
Individually, the Maroons had four athletes who placed well in the tournament. For the boys, senior Ethan Black continued his season’s domination of the x-country field by taking the CIC Championship with fellow senior Brennan Wolfe taking 10th place.
For the girls, freshman MaKayla Koeppel took fourth place overall in a time of 19:54 minutes, which puts her in 6th place on the all-time best times for CHS x-country runners. Junior Clare Holland finished the run in 8th place with a lifetime personal best of 20:10 minutes.
