CJHS Lady Maroons teams on winning streak

CLINTON — On October 5, the Clinton Junior High (CJHS) Lady Maroons faced the Lady Cardinals of Warrensburg/Latham in two games.  The home teams were ready to play after having the previous evenings games cancelled.  The Lady Cardinals had a tough time keeping up.

The 7th grade game began with the home team out scoring the opposition 7-2 and not looking back.  The Lady Maroons took a 16-3 lead into the locker room at halftime, overshadowing the Lady Cardinals 9-1 in the second quarter. 

The second half was a little closer with the opposition scoring 13 points, but the home team kept the pressure on, scoring 19 points in return.  The 7th graders won 35-16. 

The home team was led by Averie Fatheree (#2) with 12 points followed by Paisley Schick (#10) with 8 points (which included a three pointer.

The 8th grade game was more one-sided. 

The first quarter saw the home team scoring the only points, 16.  The second quarter was slightly tougher as the opposition scored 2 points to the Lady Maroons 15.  The halftime score was 31-2. 

The second half began about the same, one sided in favor of the Lady Maroons, 15-4.  The Lady Cardinals came alive in the final stanza of the game, out scoring the home team 2-1.  But the Lady Maroons’ win was already well secured.

  The final of this game was 47-8, Clinton.  The 8th graders were led by Clara Dempsey (#25/15) with 20 points (including a 3 pointer) and Avery Smith (#22) with 15 points (and a 3 pointer also).  The Lady Maroons were well prepared for these games and played well.
