Lady Maroons JV over Lady Redskins 31-24

Posted

CLINTON — Thursday, January 17, saw the Lady Maroons hosting the Lady Redskins, of Sullivan.

The evening’s festivities began with a bizarre start to the junior varsity (JV) game.  The first tip-off ended in a jump ball situation, so a second tip-off was performed with different players.  This second round the Lady Maroons took possession of the ball.

Although the Lady Redskins hung tough after leading through the first quarter, the Lady Maroons appeared to want the victory more.  The home team took the lead in the second quarter and fought off the pesky Lady Redskins through the rest of the game.  The Lady Maroons came away with a 31-24 win.

The home team was led by Kylie Raymer with 10 points.

The varsity game was especially tough for the Lady Maroons.  After being down by six at the end of the first quarter, the team was able to forge a one-point lead before going in to the locker room at halftime.

The Lady Redskins came out in the second half like an arctic blast from the north, chilling the Lady Maroons offense and defense to breeze back into the lead, which they would not relinquish.

The Lady Maroons made several runs for the lead, but just could not top the crest of the hill to gain the momentum needed.  The Lady Redskins won the tussle 49-38.  The Lady Maroons were led by Kaitlyn Rauch with 16 points followed by Mallory Cyrulik with 10.

The Lady Maroons are now 11-11 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
