CLINTON — By the end of the day on Friday, May 5, there was a huge Cinco de Mayo celebration going on at the Central Illinois Conference Girls Championship in track and field.
The Lady Maroons accomplished a great feat. The team won their first ever conference championship. It has not been an easy road, but a lot of hard work has proven the job could be done.
The coaches, Leann Sosamon and Rachel Lyons, told the team at their first team meeting of the season that this season was “their time.” From there, the Lady Maroons kept building on their crafts throughout the season with a record here and a personal best there until it all came together at this one meet. Now there are regionals, sectionals and state to look forward to.
A lot of credit was given also to former head coach Randy Anderson for building a great foundation and work ethic within the team. Congratulations to the team
