CLINTON — After complaints from residents about the condition of the city cemeteries, commissioner Dan Ballenger said he hoped to bring responsibility of mowing the cemeteries back to the city.
Concerns about infrequent and haphazard mowing by the current mowing contractor and damage to some gravestones, prompted Ballenger to say he was working to possibly have the city resume mowing duties.
“You hire these people, you expect them to do a good job for what we pay them, which is a lot less than what it’s going to cost us to do it,” Ballenger said. “But, my goal to see out own city crew do it again because they care.”
Ballenger conceded it would be significantly more expensive for the city to resume mowing duties at the cemeteries.
