CLINTON — Winifred Dunn, 82, of Clinton, passed away peacefully at 7:15 a.m. on July 29, 2024, at Liberty Village, Clinton.

Winnie, as she was known by friends and family, was born on January 8, 1942, in Ullin, Ill., the daughter of Charles H. and Irene (Dennis) Dunn.

Winnie was most proud of having served her country as a registered nurse with the United States Air Force. She continued nursing for more than 30 years, devoting most of her career to caring for terminally ill patients and their families throughout Southern Illinois.

As an active member of her local American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, Winnie stayed deeply connected to the military through her work with Operation Homefront and many other projects.

Survivors include her daughter, Heather (Jeremy) Myers, Havana, Ill., Allen Dunn, Raleigh, N.C., sister Alice (Robert) Welch, Waynesville, Ill., brother Jerry (Kitty) Dunn, Reardon, Ill., and many nieces and nephews as well as great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Aaron Joseph Dunn, and brother, Charles Oren Dunn.

Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.  The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with cremation rites.
