CLINTON — Anthony J. “Tony” Hable, 57, and Karen S. Hable, 57, of Clinton, passed away at 5:58 p.m. on November 11, 2017, from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of  Rt. 51 North and Autumn Rd., Clinton.

Mass Of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017, St. John’s Catholic Church, Clinton,  with Rev. Fr. James Henning Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Farmer City. Visitation will be held from 4–7 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at the church with Rosary at 3:30 p.m.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton,  is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, Masses or donations may be directed to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clinton, St. Paul’s Catholic School in Bloomer, Wis., or another organization of your choosing.

Tony was born March 24, 1960 in Chippewa Falls, Wis., in his early years was a resident of Bloomer, Wis., the son of William and Marcella (Grill) Hable. Karen was born June 19, 1960, in Evansville, Ind., the daughter of Albert W. and Ruth (Ahlering) Schoettlin, Jr. Tony and Karen were married on June 16, 1984, in Evansville, Ind.

Survivors include their children, Alan (Ashley) Hable, Champaign, Ill. and Emily Hable, Indianapolis, Ind.; granddaughter, Ava Hable, Champaign, Ill. and one grandchild on the way; 

Also surviving are his siblings:  Monica (Michael) Dimino, Watertown, Mass.; Patricia Zastrow, Sun Prairie, Wis.; Jean (Kirby) Bischel, Cincinnati, Ohio; William (Judy) Hable, Bloomer, Wis.; Peter Michael “Mike” (Sally) Hable, Bloomer, Wis.; David (Nancy) Hable, Beraby, British Columbia, Canada. 

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thomas Hable; sister-in-law, Gloria Hable; and brother-in-law, Milfred Zastrow.

Also surviving are Karen’s siblings: Ruthanne (Thomas) Otto, Baltimore, Md.; and Mary Kaye Mooney, St. Louis, Mo.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Timothy Mooney.

They were dearly loved as a brother and a sister, as parents, as grandparents, as an uncle and aunt, as in-laws, as cousins, and as friends.

Tony worked his entire post-college career for the Clinton Power Station as a Professional Engineer and spent many hours in his garden in his free time. Karen raised their two children and volunteered her time and energy in caring for many people in the Clinton community and doting on her granddaughter.

Their lives will be marked not by themselves or their careers, but rather, by those that they affected. They often chose to serve others rather than living for themselves. They were both members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clinton, IL where they served as lectors, extraordinary ministers of holy communion, singers in the choir, Sunday school teachers, parish council members, and general servants of all. Along with their parish, they participated in the Cursillo community and their generosity was known by many.

They often remarked that they loved being with their family. Whether it be around table for a nice meal or on a trip to somewhere new, they loved being with their kids and especially loved being together.
