CLINTON — GFL Environmental, Inc., a Toronto, Canada-based waste disposal company announced Oct. 1 it acquired Peoria Disposal Company (PDC)/Area Disposal.  Area Disposal serves Clinton.

In a news release, GFL officials said their company’s purchase of PDC/Area Disposal was its 16th North American acquisition so far this year, including Waste Management company, and its 31st year-to-date.

The Coulter family has operated PDC for more than 90 years.  GFL officials said Royal Coulter and his son Matt Coulter would remain with the business “on a long-term basis.”

PDC owns operations in central Illinois and eastern Missouri.

“The acquisition of PDC provides us with the opportunity to advance our sustainability initiatives by unlocking significant value from landfill gas to energy projects at the PDC landfills as part of GFL Renewables,” said Patrick Dovigi, founder and CEO of GFL.
