Candidates file for 2022 DeWitt County primary

All board seats up for election, as well as clerk, treasurer, sheriff

CLINTON — Canidates filed this week to run in the 2022 county board election.  The board set board member terms at its Feb. 24 regular meeting.

Five candidates filed on Monday.  All of the board’s 12 seats are up for election this year.

Board chairman Republican Terry Ferguson, Dist. B, and board member Republican Melonie Tilley, Dist. D, filed for re-election, while challengers Republican Tom Farris and Republican Kritina Deerwester filed to run in Dist. C.

Republican Joe Witte filed to run in Dist. A.

The offices of DeWitt County Clerk and Recorder, County Treasurer and Sheriff all are up for election, serving four-year terms.

Repubican Sheriff Mike Walker is running for re-election.  Republican Karrie Harris filed for Clerk and Recorder; Republicans Sara Jade Russel and Codilee Snow filed for County Treasurer.

County Clerk Dana Smith and County Treasurer Gloria Wills announced earlier they would not run for re-election.

The primary election is set for June 28.
