Fire department postponing annual February fund raising

Posted

CLINTON — Clinton Fire Department is postponing its annual February fund raising effort and safety sweep.

The department announced it would postpone the activities because of the ongoing pandemic.  Officials will announce when those programs will be conducted.

In the mean time, fire officials remind residents to check their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and to change the units’ batteries on time-change weekend.

Residents also are reminded to make a fire escape plan with their families and to practice it, and to not overload electrical power strips.

And, residents should use caution when using space heaters, keeping space around them, and to plug them directly into outlets, not into extension cords or power strips.
