CLINTON — The Clinton Lady Maroons have played several home games recently, including games against St. Teresa, Tuscola and Merdian.

To lead off the foray, the Lady Maroons faced the Lady Bulldogs of Decatur St. Teresa, which had previously beaten the home team by one point.

The Lady Bulldogs were elated to take the early lead in the top of the first inning, but it was brief as the home team rallied for three runs in the bottom of the inning with a couple of walks and several hits.

The Lady Maroons added another run in the second on a walk and a triple by Savanah Clifton (#6).  Another run was added in the fourth inning by the home team, who then exploded with seven runs in the sixth inning on several walks, several singles, and a triple by pitcher Ashley Armstrong (#5).

After the first inning, Armstrong held the Lady Bulldogs scoreless with the help of her teammates making some good plays.

The Lady Maroons won this outing 12-1.  Armstrong pitched a complete game supported by an offense led by Clifton and Chloe Griffin, both hitting 3-4 on the day.

This game was followed by an outing against the Tuscola Lady Warriors.

The Lady Warriors drew first blood with 4 runs in the second inning.  The home team responded with two of its own in the third inning, but the offense was stymied even though they had the bases loaded in the fifth; no more runs.

The Lady Warriors would add two more runs in each of the fifth and seventh innings to win 8-2 over the home team.

The Maroons offense was led by Ashley Armstrong (#5), the pitcher, hitting 3-3 from the plate ,and Heidi Humble (#27), who was 3-4 with a home run.

On a final note the Lady Maroons took a tough loss on a home stand against the Meridian Lady Hawks, who won 20-1 to give their coach his 400th win of his coaching career.
