CLINTON — The Lady Maroons returned to the Vance Gymnasium for a second time in a week on December 9, for games against a tough conference foe in the Central A&M Lady Raiders.

In the varsity game, the home team, although sluggish at first, took control of the game early on.

The team was able to control the Lady Raider offense, while keeping to its own offensive plan.  Up by 6 points at the end of the first quarter, the home team raised that to a 15-point lead going into the locker room at half time.

At the end of the third quarter, the opposition was down by 16 points.  The final quarter was a runaway for the Lady Maroons as they went on a 20-6 run to finish with a 51-21 win.

The Lady Maroons were led by Mallory Cyrulik (#4) with 22 points and Heidi Humble (#1) with 12 points.  The top Lady Raider scored just 7 points.

The junior varsity game began with the Lady Maroons struggling, coming up with only 3 points.  This gave the Lady Raiders a 5-point lead going into the second quarter.  The home team rallied on a 12-9 run to come within 2 points of the lead at halftime.

The third quarter saw the Lady Raiders move to a 5- point lead heading into the final stanza of the game.  The Lady Maroons came onto the court on a mission in the fourth quarter and made it known they were still in the game.

The home team went on a 15-3 run in that last quarter to take the 34-27 win from the opposition.

Ashley Armstrong (#5) led the JV Lady Maroons with 11 points.
