COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Alvin Austin, 90, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Brooksville, Fla. and Clinton, Ill., passed away at 11:06 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017.. He was at home and under the care of loving family and hospice. 

He was born on October 14, 1927, in Van Lear, Ky., son of Isom and Bessie Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.  

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; and three children, Greg Austin, Jann (Mike) Martin, and Teri (Michael) Rousseau. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Art and Andy Rousseau, Logan Martin, and Jackie Powell; as well as six great-grandchildren. 

Al loved God, his family and his country. He was proud of his service in the Korean War, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved camping and spending time with family. He was a PE teacher and coach of nearly every sport at Clinton Community High School, in Clinton. 

Memorials may be made in Al's memory to Abode Hospice or to the Alzheimer’s Association. 

He will be missed by all who loved him and is probably leading calisthenics with a loud whistle in heaven.
