Barbara Jean “Barb” Samson-Sheehy, 61, of Richmond, MO, passed away, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Barb was born on September 2, 1957, in O’Neill, NE, the daughter of Fred and Naomi (Knepper) Hannick.
Additional Survivors include: her husband, Earl Sheehy; her children: Holly (Mike) Britton, Steven Samson (Valeria Sharetskaya), and Rachel Samson (Ross Waldron); step-children: Erin Sheehy, Kevin Sheehy, and Karin (Jeremy) Landon; siblings: Charlotte (Lance) Recknor, David Hannick, Carl (Tina) Hannick, and Patrick (Cheryl) Hannick; in-laws: Ron Samson, Hank (Terri) Samson, June (Lad) Nemecek, Rod Brown, and Edmund (Donna) Sheehy; Grandchildren: Kyah Landon, Rylee Landon, Talan Unger, Zach Britton, and Alyona Samson; one uncle, several aunts, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and a very precious Border Collie named Bridget.
She was preceded in death by her mother Naomi, father Fred, step-father Bob Carriker, first husband Richard Samson, and sister Peg Brown.
Barb graduated from high school in 1975 from Marceline, MO, and earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri, in Columbia, in 1979. In September of 1982, she married Richard Samson in Lincoln, NE, and was employed by the city of Hastings, NE, for many years. After Richard’s death in 2004, Barb remarried to Earl Sheehy in 2007 in Wahoo, NE. She was employed by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, until May of 2019.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, MO, with a Rosary prior to visitation at 5:45 P.M.
