KENNEY — A benefit for the Miller family will be held on Saturday, August 14, at The Depot, in Kenney.
Codie and Hannah Miller’s son, 3-month-old Cannen, was born with port wine stains and diagnosed with Sturge-Weber Syndrome when he was 3 weeks old. The port stains are caused by an overabundance of capillaries near the surface of the skin and can cause neurological disorders, such as Sturge-Weber. He has suffered multiple seizures, and the family must travel periodically to Chicago to see a neurologist, dermatologist and ophthalmology specialist.
The Millers also have a son Caiden.
Hannah is unable to work because of the care Cannen requires. Her husband works fulltime, but they need help with expenses.
The August 14 benefit will include a lawn mower poker run through Kenney, bags tournament, raffle baskets, 50/50 drawings, a bounce house and other activities for kids. There also will be live music with Josh Holland from 8-11.
Sign up for the lawn mower poker run will start at 1 p.m. with the run starting at 2 p.m. Cost will be $10 per person. Participants should bring their riders, tractors, small ATVs or anything comparable.
Bags tournament sign up will be at 4 p.m., and tournament bags fly at 5 p.m. Bring your own partner, $10 per person.
Raffle and 50/50- drawings will run all day. Food will be available at the Dining Car with a portion of the sales donated to the Millers.
Diapers size 3-up and wipes donations also would be appreciated.
