CLINTON — Charles Robert “Charlie” Heap, 68, of Clinton, passed away at 10:51 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at his residence.
His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Mark Moore officiating. Burial will be at Randolph Township Cemetery, Heyworth. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home.
The family suggests memorials be made to Living Hope Christian Church, Downs.
Charlie was born on July 25, 1950, in Downs, Ill., the son of Oren and Evaline Phillips Heap.
He married Mary Fagerburg Newby on September 5, 1992, in LeRoy. She survives.
Also surviving is his mother, Evaline Heap, Bloomington, Ill.; nine children, Stacy Vitallo, St. Charles, Ill.; Leslie Beitzel, Bloomington; Kelly (Jimmy) Mapugay, Bloomington; Scott Heap, Bloomington; Holly (Josh) Mathis, Mackinaw, Ill.;Melissa Heap, Flanagan, Ill.; Steve (Sarah) Newby, Sun Prairie, Wis.; Chris (Melanie) Newby, Carbondale, Ill.; Karen (Chad) Ijams, Clinton; 21 grandchildren, three brothers, Richard (Billie) Heap, Ohio; John (Candi) Heap, Clinton; James (Kim) Heap, Normal; twosisters, Mary (Dan) Dawson, Heyworth, and Betty (Greg) Pilchard, Downs.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father.
Charlie was a self-employed farmer and truck driver. He was an elder and founding member of Living Hope Christian Church, Downs. He served in the Illinois National Guard for six years. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all.
