CLINTON — In a recent press release it was announced that the Clinton CUSD #15 Board of Education would be appointing Chris Ridgeway to the position of head football coach of the Clinton Maroons. Chris's duties will commence immediately upon his appointment. Coach Ridgeway will replace Coach Nick Blackburn, who led the Maroons during the 2017 season.
Coach Ridgeway has 10 years of coaching experience with the most recent being as an assistant coach for the Maroons during the 2017 season. Before coming to Clinton, Chris coached for the Cerro-Gordo/Bement co-op schools and for Sangamon Valley High School. Coach Ridgeway was selected from a goup of approximately 20 applicants.
"Coach Ridgeway believes that it is important to teach his athletes to become good young men, build a rapport with the community and the youth football program. His number one rule is to be respectful to family, community, and staff," stated the district press release. "Chris encourages students to be multi-sport athletes, and he is willing to work with all coaches to make CHS athletics better."
Coach Ridgeway will assemble the coaching staff and meet with players and parents in the near future. CUSD #15 and CHS are excited to announce and welcome Chris Ridgeway as the new head football coach.
