CJHS Maroons down Bombers 10-0

CLINTON — Last week, in the heat of an afternoon, the Clinton Junior High School Maroon’s baseball team hosted the Argenta/Oreana Bombers on their home field.

The Maroons were in good form as they scored offensively early and often, and defensively held the Bombers to no runs scored.  Ryan Pine was on the mound for the Maroons and was so close to a no hit shut-out.  He went four innings allowing no hits with great fielding behind him, especially at second and shortstop.

Jaydon Bell was at second and Brock Wilson at shortstop.

The game began with the Maroons bringing 7 batters to the plate, scoring 3 runs on 3 hits (one a double by Jaxon Reynolds.  The second inning was quiet, but the Maroons hit the bases again in the third with two more runs.

In the fourth inning the Maroons added 3 more runs on two hits and a couple of walks and eight batters going to the plate.  The game ended in the fifth when the home team added two more runs on three hits, invoking the 10 run mercy rule.  Clinton won 10-0.

Along with Pine pitching a complete game shut-out, the offense was led by Bell hitting three for four at the plate followed by Reynolds at 2-3 with his double in the mix.
