CHICAGO — Clarence William Martinek, of Chicago, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017, at Lexington Health Care Center in Lake Zurich surrounded by family and friends.
Clarence was born on September 15, 1940, the son of Lillian and William Martinek. He was a hard worker, most proud of his jobs as a truck driver for Peacock Trucking and as an engineer for DuPont Paint Company.
Talented on the clarinet and with singing, Clarence’s love for music continued throughout his lifetime. After a debilitating stroke, he spent some years in Clinton, caring for his three dogs and endearing himself to many in the community; returning to the Chicagoland area to spend his final days.
He was a beloved ex-husband to Peg and Carol, father of Sally, Angela, Laura, Christina, and Raymond, grandfather to Mary, Steve, Sophia and Carson, and great-grandfather to Samuel. He also was fond brother of Joyce, Renee and Ed.
Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish, 11 S. Buesching Rd, Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Inurnment at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine, 1185 W. Algonquin Rd.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC.org) and Save-A-Pet (saveapetil.org).
