Dennis 'Denny' Madix


CLINTON — Dennis “Denny” Madix, 74, of Clinton, passed away due to COVID-19, surrounded by family at 4:33 p.m. on January 27, 2021, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Private family Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Fr. James Henning celebrant. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wapella.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later, safer date.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church sanctuary stained glass window repair.

Dennis was born on ebruary 18, 1946, in Champaign, the son of Sylvester and Lauretta (McGreal) Madix. He married Kathleen “Kathy” A. Bank on July 11, 1970, in Pekin. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy A. Madix, Clinton; children, Marcy (David) Canon, LaMesa, CA and Kyle (Ashlee) Madix, Jerseyville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Mia Madix, Liam Madix and Josie Canon, and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Madix, Decatur.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ed Madix.

Denny was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clinton.  He taught in the Clinton School District, retiring after 36 years of service.  He served on his Parish Council, DeWitt County Friendship Center Board, D.O.V.E. (R.S.V.P.) board, and the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging.

Denny enjoyed and loved his family, grandchildren, friends, strong faith, and community.  He will truly be missed.  He was a loving, giving husband, father, grandpa, teacher, coach, friend, and volunteer.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Warner Hospital and Health Services, Clinton, and OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, for their loving, devoted care.
