HEYWORTH — Donald E. Wey, 88, of Heyworth, passed away unexpectedly at 5:21 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at his residence.
His funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019, at the Heyworth Christian Church, with the Rev. Kurt Flora officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Township Memorial Cemetery, Heyworth.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the Heyworth Christian Church and from 10-11 a.m. on Friday at the church.
Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Heyworth, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Randolph Township Fire/EMS or the Heyworth Christian Church.
Donald was born on December 23, 1930, in Belle Prairie Township, Livingston County, Ill., a son of Pearl D. and Della Mae Rafferty Wey. He married his valentine sweetheart, Irene M. Schieber on February 14, 1954 in Eureka, Ill. She passed away on December 9, 2013.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey E. (Jay Juarez) Wey, of Plainfield and daughter, Jeanette (Jeffrey) Wissmiller, of Heyworth. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, Thelma Young-Rosendale and brother, John Wey.
Donald retired in 1992 from the Eureka Company, Bloomington, after 40 years and continued farming until 2005. He was a member of the Heyworth Christian Church; the McDonalds coffee club on S. Main St. Bloomington; NRA, the McLean County Farm Bureau and was an avid hunter.
He enjoyed helping his daughter at her dance studio for the past 24 years.
