Dorothy Peabody to celebrate 100th birthday

PONTIAC — Dorothy E. Shields Peabody will celebrate her 100th birthday on September 29.  Cards of congratulations will be appreciated and may be sent to her at Evenglow Lodge #602, 215 East Washington Street, Pontiac, IL 61764.  

Dorothy was born in Clinton, Ill. on September 29, 1918, to John O. and Pauline (Humphreys) Shields.  She graduated from Clinton High School in 1936 and from Illinois State University in 1940.  

As a new teacherin Ridge Farm, Ill., in 1940, she met Keith Corzine Peabody and married him in 1942.  Their sons are Charles Peabody, of Crescent City, Ill., and Lynn Peabody, of Freeland, Wash.  

Dorothy enjoys having four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to being a homemaker, Dorothy was a junior high teacher and counselor in the Champaign school system.  Her lifelong friend from Clinton was Fayetta Isaac.
