CLINTON — Edna J. Burns, 96, of Clinton, passed away at 7:04 a.m. on July 28, 2019, at Manor Court, Clinton.
Services will be conducted at noon on Friday, August 2, 2019, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.– noon on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the American Legion.
Edna was born on October 13, 1922, in Kenney, the daughter of Roy and Florence (Lightcap) Woodard. She married Cornelius Burns on May 13, 1944. He passed away in July 1971.
Survivors include her son, Gary (Marcia) Burns, Clinton; grandchildren, Marcylene (Chris) Braden, Clinton, and Tiffany (Jeff) Dial, Edwardsville, Ill.; and great-grandchildren, Emily Braden, Lindsey Dial, Lauren Dial, and Justin Dial.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Roy Edwin Woodard and Raymond (Carolyn) Woodard.
Following her graduation in 1940 from the Clinton Community High School, Edna attended Brown Business School. She formerly worked at Revere Copper and Brass Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1983.
While working at Revere Copper and Brass Co., she was the secretary and treasurer for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. After retiring, Edna managed the Revere Store at the plant.
