CLINTON — George D. Taylor, 66, of Clinton, passed away 2:58 a.m. pm May 12, 2019, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville.  Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Waynesville American Legion Post #1189.

George was born on September 25, 1952, in Bloomington, Ill., the son of Noye and Barbara Jean (Price) Taylor. He married Barbara Ashley on November 11, 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Taylor, Clinton; son, David (Heather) Taylor, Greencastle, Ind.; granddaughter, Lilly Marie Taylor, Greencastle, Ind; brother, Raymond E. (Kathy) Taylor, Waynesville; and two step-children, Larry Ashley, Wapella, and Bridget Becker, Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Amber Taylor, and sister, Carla Renfro.

George retired after more than 40 years from the International Association of Plasterers and Cement Masons, Local #18, area 152.  He was a 47-year member of the Waynesville American Legion Post #1189.  George was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served during the Vietnam War.  He enjoyed classic cars.
