CLINTON — J. Kent Hickerson, 84, of Clinton, passed away at 12:29 p.m. on September 30, 2024, at Cedar Valley Hospice, Waterloo, Iowa.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, at First Christian, Clinton, with Ernie Harvey, Jr. and Chris Hintsman officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 2–4 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton.
Memorials may be directed to the Little Galilee Christian Camp or Cedar Valley Hospice House, Waterloo, Iowa.
Kent was born on June 24, 1940 in Vandalia, Ill., the son of Ronald T. and LaVonne (Reese) Hickerson. He married Merla Phelps on June 9, 1963, in Walnut Hill, Ill. She passed away on March 6, 2015.
Survivors include his son, Jeff Hickerson, Clinton; daughter, Jill (Dustin) Ridenour, Independence, Iowa; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Taylor) Hickerson, Shari Hickerson, Reese Ridenour and Rumor Ridenour; two great-grandchildren, Archer Hickerson and Riley Hickerson; along with his sister, Bonnie Lichtenberger, Gold Canyon, Ariz.
He was preceded in death his parents, brothers, Ronald Dean Hickerson and Max Reese Hickerson.
Kent was a past minister and long-time member of the Clinton First Christian Church.
