CLINTON — Jo Ann (Spencer) Kleist, 75, of Clinton, passed away at 3:45 a.m. on May 13, 2018, at Primrose Retirement Community, Decatur.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Lincoln, Ill., with Fr. John Pham celebrant. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to Holy Family Catholic Church, Lincoln.
Jo Ann was born on July 21, 1942, in McLean County, Ill., the daughter of Boyd and Glenna (Burnsmeir) Spencer. Shear married George J. Kleist on August 3, 1963, in Bloomington, Ill. He passed away on August 27, 2016.
Suvivors include her children, Jeffrey (Carol) Kleist, Clinton; Kenneth (Michelle) Kleist, Madisonville, Ky.; Karen (Timothy) Shuman, Culver, Ind.; James (Robin) Kleist, Decatur, Ill.; Steven Kleist, Bloomington, Ill.; Daniel (Allison) Kleist, Gibson City, Ill.; 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; siblings, Jeanie (Jack) Kilcrece, Peru, Ind.; Marjorie (Keith) Sheppelman, Denver, Colo.; Boyd “Buddy” Spencer, Heyworth, Ill.’ John (Rita) Spencer, Wapella, Ill.; Paul (Teri) Spencer Heyworth, Ill.; Pete (Denise) Spencer, Towanda, Ill.; Eddie (Yon) Spencer, Granite City, Ill., and Ellen Spencer, Naples, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dan.
Jo Ann was a registered nurse at Adolf Meyer, Decatur, and McFarland, Springfield. She enjoyed reading, gardening, auctions and was an NRA fan.
