CLINTON — Larry E. Welton, 81, of Clinton, passed away at 3:20 p.m. on July 8, 2018, at his residence, in Clinton.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 20, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating.  Burial will follow at Mausoleum Park Cemetery, Clinton.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church, Clinton, or the American Cancer Society.

Larry was born on October 21, 1936, in Farmer City, the son of Percy and Ethel (Bates) Welton.  He married Doris M. Shaw on February 11, 1956, in Clinton.  She passed away on May 12, 2015.

Survivors include his children, Rick E. (Karen) Welton, Decatur; Rustin E. (Susan) Welton, Summerfield, N.C.; grandchildren, Isaac and Mattie (Welton) Canaday, Decatur; Craig and Molly (Welton) Mathews, Avon, Ind.; Megan Welton, Decatur; Grant Welton, Greensboro, N.C.; Grayson Welton, Greensboro, N.C.; Cameron WInburn, Fayetteville, N.C.; Allison Winburn, Summerfield, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Brooks, Eleanor and Rowan Canaday, and Camille Weldon; brothers, Ron (Madalyn) Welton, Fort Myers, Fla.; and Ken (Linda) Welton, Peoria, and brother-in-law, Dick Stansbery, Lakeview, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his son Robb E. Welton, in 1985, and his sister, Linda Stansbery.

Larry was a State Farm Insurance agent for 56 years, in April 2018.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many caregivers and friends who came by, especially Wilma, Susan and Dawn.
