FARMER CITY — Mary Alice (Bundy) Johnson, 82, of Farmer City, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Farmer City Rehab & Health Care.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City. The funeral will be conducted on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Kyle Kopp officiating. Burial will be at Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City.

Mary was born on February 6, 1942, to L.D. Odell and Elizabeth (James) Bundy. She grew up in Clinton. She married James (Jim) Edward Johnson on August 10, 1958, in Farmer City. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2008.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Col. L.D. Lamar Bundy; sister Marilyn Ann (Bundy) Walters and her daughter-in-law Marjorie Johnson.

Mary is survived by her daughter Peggy (Paul) Lamb, Farmer City; son Michael Johnson, Thomasboro, Ill.; granddaughter Christine (Chris) Bowling; Heath (Amy) Lamb;  Heather Lamb; bonus granddaughter, Hannah Bowen, and brother-in-law Albert (Bud) Walters.

Mary had five great-grandchildren, Gracie, Annabelle, Jack, Ryan, and Stormi and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

She loved her cat Nanno Bear and her grand dogs Brady, Briscoe, Tucker and Sophie, and they will miss their grandmas’ kisses and snuggles.

Mary retired from Carle Clinic in 2006.

She loved to garden, feed and watch the birds, and she loved Elvis.

She was a loving mom and nonnie. If you knew Mary, you knew she was a force to be reckoned with. She loved with her whole heart; you always knew how she felt and where you stood with her. She didn’t sugarcoat what you needed to hear, but at the same time she was loving and  caring. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

Thank you to Sally McKinley, Carle Hospital NT6 and Farmer City Rehab nurses and health care techs for giving her such good care the last few weeks.
