CLINTON — Robert Duane “Bob” Haas, 88, of Clinton, passed away at 8:55 a.m. on May 13, 2024, at his family home in Clinton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clinton, with Fr. Thomas R. Szydlik, celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Wapella.  Prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, followed by visitation from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or the Clinton YMCA.

Bob was born on February 25, 1936, in Bloomington, the son of Duane and Kathryn (Taylor) Haas. He married Helen J. Burns on August 17, 1957, in Bloomington.

Survivors include his wife, Helen J. Haas, Clinton; children, Debra (Brian) Flessner, Roberts, Ill.; Diane Wilson, Auburn, Ill.; and Mark (Debbie) Haas, Clinton; grandchildren, Lizabeth (Alex) Keim, Clinton; Austin Wilson, East Lansing, Mich.; Ryan Wilson, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Blake Haas, Clinton; and brother, Richard (Sharon) Haas, LeRoy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Haas, sister, Anne Thomas, son-in-law, Jamie Wilson, and sister-in-law, Fay Haas.

Bob was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1955–1957. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and past president of the Clinton YMCA Board.

Bob farmed for 51 years, along with working 30 years for North Fertilizer, 6 ½ years for Warren Martin, and three years for John Deere Store. He was also a seed corn dealer for Dairyland Seed and a 47-year dealer for Pfister Hybrid Corn Company.  After he retired, he helped his brother and nephews with their farming operation for several years.
