CLINTON — Ronald C. “Ron” Conner, 67, of Clinton, passed away at 7:52 p.m. on June 25, 2019, at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
A time to celebrate with Ron’s family will be 4–7 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at the Clinton Community High School gymnasium. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to R.C. Conner Scholarship Fund.
Ron was born on June 20, 1952, in Jacksonville, Ill. the son of Charles William and Esther (Bergthold) Conner. He married Melinda Demlow June 10, 1989, in St. Charles, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Melinda Conner, Clinton, children, Christopher Beau (Debbie) Tamimie; Matthew (Amiee) Conner; Nicole Conner; Brooke (Matthew) Tool; Jenna (Daniel) Koons, Byron (Brittany) Conner, nine grandchildren and beloved granddogs, siblings, Shirley (Tom) Murphy; Bill (Stacey) Conner; and Tom Conner.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ron’s heart belonged to the Clinton Community High School, where he was principal from 1994 until 2012. He was on the Board of Directors for the IHSA Board and HRC Board, and served on the Clinton School Board from 2015 until present.
Ron honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1973 and continued to serve his country throughout his life. He was devoted to the Clinton community and especially his family. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. God Bless America.
