CLINTON — William “Bill” Mayfield, 72, of Clinton, passed away at 7:35 a.m. on February 15, 2022, at Accolade Health Care, Paxton, Ill.
No services are planned at this time. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with cremation rites.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Wounded Warriors Project.
William was born on April 30, 1949, in Normal, the son of William J. Mayfield and Kathryn (Young) Mayfield. He married Nancy Day on April 3, 1980, in Decatur.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Mayfield, Clinton; children, Dawn Collins, Decatur, Jennifer (Eric) Crandall, Parker, Colo.; Jessica Layton, Indianapolis, Ind.; and Amanda Mayfield, Chicago; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters, Diana Kay Peifer, Bloomington; and Jacqueline (Jim) Jesse, Flannagan, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1973. He was a member of the Local #288 Painters Union, in Decatur.
