MAHOMET — Kevin Derek Houser, 45, of Mahomet, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, in Mahomet.
Kevin was born on July 14, 1973 in San Leandro, Calif., the son of Ronald and Connie Houser.
Kevin graduated from Clinton High School, Southern Illinois University and received his masters degree in social work from the University of Illinois.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Marie (Rodgers) Houser, who enjoyed their 21 years of marriage and his children, Brooklyn Marie and Brennan Derek Houser, all of Mahomet; his mother, Connie Houser, Clinton; and sister, Debbie (Jeff) Wenell, E. Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his father and maternal grandmother, Monty Brennan and maternal grandfather John Brennan.
Kevin was a LCSW and held the position of Clinical Services Manager for the Central Region of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. He had held various positions with DCFS for 18 years. Previously, he was a school social worker in the Salem School District for three years.
Kevin had a great sense of humor and a wonderful smile. His greatest blessings in life were his children and his wife. He was very active with his children’s sporting events, drag racing, car shows, cars and coffee and hunting.
Kevin attended CU Church, in Champaign, and had a strong faith in the Lord.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 3, from 2-5 p.m. at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar, Mahomet. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, at the funeral home. Pastor Jason Epperson and Adam Blackman will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton.
