JACKSON, Miss. — Lee Edward Morris, 58, of Jackson, Miss., passed away on August 8, 2018, at St. Dominic’s Hospital, in Jackson.
He was born on April 30, 1960, in Clinton, the son of Bonnie Sanders Morris and Marvin Lee Morris.
A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, September 1, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., with reading at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick Church Hall, in Wapella.
Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Lee is survived by his mother, Bonnie Morris, of Wapella; father, Marvin (Linda) Morris, of Wapella; daughters, Melissa (Craig) Howard, of Brandon, Miss.; and Jennifer (Brandon) Taylor and granddaughter, Tinley Taylor, of Clinton, Miss. Also surviving is a sister, Cynthia (Brad) Wey, of Heyworth, and brother, Martin Albert Morris, of Brandon, Miss.; grandmother, Donna Morris, of Wapella; and several nieces, nephews, great-nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. He also is survived by the mother of his children, Becky Briggs Morris, of Brandon, Miss., and long-term friend, Jim Crowell.
Lee was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, eight cousins and a special friend, Alan Thomas.
Lee graduated from Wapella High School in 1978, where he was president of the FFA in his senior year. He was a locomotive engineer at the time of his passing, which was a lifetime dream of his. Lee started his career with the Canadian National Railroad at age 19 and worked for nearly 40 years. He worked in Decatur, Chicago, Baton Rouge, La., and Jackson, Miss.
He loved classic cars, classic country music and Elvis Presley. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was known for his fabulous smile.
