Richard ‘Dick’ Wayne Wagers

CLINTON — Richard “Dick” Wayne Wagers, 77, of Clinton, passed away at 12:35 p.m. on January 15, 2024, at Manor Court, Clinton.

Graveside services with military rites will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, with Ernie Harvey Jr. officiating.  The family has entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to donor’s choice, Military Order Of The Purple Heart, P.O. Box 96188, Washington, DC 20090-6188, or the Battle Cross Crusaders.

Dick was born on October 3, 1946, in Clinton, the son of Russell and Dorothy (Vermillion) Wagers.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Linda Schmid, Clinton; son, Rustin (Whitney) Wagers, Clinton; grandson, Rylan Wagers, Clinton, IL,; Madison Cole, Clinton; sister, Christine Alnadi, Venice, Fla.; half-brother, Robert Keith Wagers, Decatur, along with several nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Delores Wagers.

Dick served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, Military Order Of the Purple Heart, the Clinton V.F.W. and member of the Battle Cross Crusaders.  He retired from the Clinton Post Office as a mail carrier after serving 31 years.
